when we look at ashtang yoga and the process of yama,niyam ,asana, pratyahaar, dharna, dhyan and samadhi among these eight stages first four are related more to physical body where rest four related to subtle body .
among all these stages dharna is the main bridge between physical and subtle body as for as meditation is concerned.
fixing the dharna , reaching easily to the desired level of dharna , having achieved the eligiblity crriteria for dharma is a must .
this approach up to the dharna level is shorten by mantra yoga , most the tough stages are by passed by mantra yoga easy method.
